I found this cool photo on Instagram from a Radio DJ I follow. Her name is @luvelizabethany and this is a handwritten note from Usher. Yes, that Usher that has given countless hits from “Yeah!” to “Climax.” You can catch him on NBC’s “The Voice” Mondays and Tuesdays.

It’s been two years since I started this blog.
Honestly, I thought I would’ve shut it down and called it a day by now. I tend to start feeling unmotivated and soon, i let it go like that. It’s not the case with this so don’t start freaking out.
I look back at the last year and just take it all in. There’s the what ifs, could’ve beens, and etc. I can sit here and tell you the millions of things I wish I could’ve done but I am not. I do want to thank you for sticking around and checking out this piece of me. You keep motivated to keep on going down this road.
The biggest memory or shock I saw over the past year is the support. I figured I had some support but man, you showed me another level. The little Twitter campaign, #AlexonE!, took off and put a visual repesentation of who was being supportive. It was overwhelming and most of all…unexpected. it was a reminder that there’s power in numbers and when it comes ro my friends…there is no one better than my group.
As for the near future, I hope to visit CA and see it in the flesh and a website redesign to sweep through this template. As always, you’ll be a part of…our journey.
Thank you for another year!

To my little brother aka thug nasty….
Words can’t express how proud I am of you. You’ve been through a lot and I am awe of how you’ve pushed through it all. I know I say this a lot but I am thankful to have you in my life because you motivate to keep strong and move forward. I know I can be a nut case all the time but don’t ever forget I’ll always love you and have your back regardless of wherever I am at. Best wishes on your 19th birthday. Please stop growing because it makes me realize how old I am.
Your big brother and fan
Alex
Before I start this post, how are your New Year’s resolutions coming along? I know the year is almost a fourth of the way out of the way but are you still on the road to your resolution? I am failing miserably at my resolution to update the blog but I am back on it…I promise!
So back to the topic of this post…
About two weeks into the new year, I started back up on the job hunt. As much as I like my job, one of my other goals is to relocate to the state of California to pursue a career as a TV personality. I randomly saw a tweet from www.twitter.com/HIRED about a job position in San Francisco with one of the biggest social media sites, Pinterest. If you’re on it, let’s pin together.
I supplied the resume, cover letter, and writing samples for the oh so powerful beings at Pinterest. I literally went on a limb and didn’t think I would ever hear from the company because I am here in TX and they’re all the way over there in CA. So I sent all the stuff via the online application and left it all in fate’s hands.
A couple of days later, I was at work doing the usual Monday stuff such as separating inserts for the advertisers and then the unexpected happened, a little e-mail from a Pinterest recruiter came in stating that they really enjoyed my writing samples and wanted to talk to me. The phone interview occurred later that week which I completely thought went well but alas, it didn’t go the way I expected it.
I was rejected…I know believe me, my heart broke in pieces when I got the official rejection email. You would think I would be bitter about it but nope…I can’t be negative about the site or anything that occurred. It all happened for a reason and I choose to be positive about it. It’s a huge silver lining to think that a huge company like Pinterest would be interested in me. It made me want to push forward even more to achieve my dreams.
It served as a sign to expect the unexpected because anything could happen.
I am thankful for the opportunity to even interview with Pinterest and who knows, I am sure that this will be a cool little sidenote in my autobiography. ;) I hope you guys are keeping with your resolutions and still trying to achieve your dreams. Remember, anything could happen!

Well…this was truly unexpected.
Two weeks ago, it was a usual day of tweeting. It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary just keeping it casual as always. One of the producers from the show, Omg!Insider, asked a question in regards to Oscars fashion.
Fashion has become a part of pop culture that has everyone talking about who looked good or who looked bad. Although I am not familiar with many of the haute couture designers, I did remember a specific actress from last year’s Academy awards.
Her name is Jessica Chastain. You most likely remember her from “The Help” but you can also see her in “Zero Dark Thirty.” Last year, she wore an Alexander McQueen gown with some of the most intricate beading i’ve ever seen. Her auburn locks cascaded down her back in a dramatic fashion to complete the look.
I submitted my 140 character tweet to the producer and expected nothing. It was just my two cents about a memorable look. On Friday, I got a tweet from the actual show stating that my tweet would be on the show. The only thing was that I didnt know what tweet would appear on it. So I sent out facebook statuses to promote my tweet’s appearance on the show.
Well I missed my appearance but luckily I’ve seen a video and photograph about my tweet. It was a surreal experience just to know that my Twitter handle would be all over the nation in a nationally televised entertainment show. I can’t wait to be an actual correspondent that appears on a national TV show.

“This is my girlfriend…”
“This is the guy I am dating…”
“This is the girl I am in love with…”
“This is my best friend…”
The statements above are some of the ones you may or may not have heard at some given period of time but regardless, they all have one thing in common…and that is the feeling of validation. It’s a small yet so powerful gesture. Simple little words or small little actions that give someone the feeling that someone cares about them or that they’re important to them in some way.
At times, we only want this validation to come from certain people because we hold them in high regard or the person means a lot to us so of course, we want the feelings to be reciprocated. If you’re thinking you’re dumb for wanting someone to acknowledge in a small way, you aren’t dumb. It’s perfectly normal to feel that way. You just want to be heard, seen, and acknowledged for what you do in a relationship or a friendship. It may seem so small but it’s important because everyone wants a little bit of everyone’s attention.
While some may freely give out the validation, beware of the ones that necessarily don’t give it out like party favors and most of the time, they’re oblivious to the fact that you may want validation. The thing about validation is that it needs to be authentic and not forced because then it’s not genuine and creates a sense of artificialness between the sender and the receiver. If you’re getting the validation you need, you need to focus on the people who fulfill that part but at the same time, don’t make the mistake of reciprocating the emotion if isn’t genuine.
At the end of day, we all have this innate need to be wanted, acknowledged, and validated as someone important in another individual’s life. Some may only need the validation of their significant other through a term of endearment or with the action of uploading a couple’s photo on their Facebook profile yet others looks for validation from their inner circle also known as some of the most important people in his or her life.
So after reading this, pick up the phone and let your significant other and every important person in your life that you love them, thank them, and make them feel wanted as a part of your life. Don’t force it but be authentic. We’re never guaranteed the next day so always let the people in your life know that you treasure them. The small things we say or do for each other tend to always make the biggest impact.
Hi, Hola, Bonjour, & Konichiwa 2013!
Hope you guys are enjoying this first night of the new year with your family, friends, and everyone. I am looking forward to what’s come and, I feel like this year will bring good things. I know there’s some hardships to come but I can survive. I’ve got big plans for axsquared and in advance, I want to thank you for everything! We’ll turn 2 in March and I am working on some things to celebrate the blog’s birthday. Let’s focus on the positivity we’ve got around us and enjoy the people around us who support us.
Here’s to a new year and new beginnings.
I wish you nothing but the best in this new year….this is OUR year!
Alex.
It went by too fast and, I can actually remember what I did after ringin’ in the new year. I think I went over to a friend’s house and played Kinect until dawn or maybe that was another night. This year seems like a complete blur since it went by too fast. It’s just mind blowing to be ringing another year and looking forward to what may come in 2013.
There’s just way too many memories to recall but they include a memorable 25th birthday, the graduations of two special individuals, a wedding, two kids going to their first year of elementary school, a baby announcement, and a bunch of other things all mixed in between. I am extremely grateful for everything that I’ve been given…and believe me, there were some bad days where it really poured but I got through it all.
There’s a long list of people that I could list but I just want to thank everyone who I’ve spoken to, hung out with, tweeted with, e-mailed with, or have just had a random conversation with because you have either taught me something or have distracted me from the busy part of life. To my close circle of friends, thank you for continuously supporting, listening, and just putting up with everything I do. I hope one day I can repay you in someway for everything you’ve given me.
This year has really taught some valuable lessons and believe me, they were huge obstacles that I had to either overcome or just let go. I am still learning and adapting to the new things that come my way but sometimes, it’s like can I get a break? hahahaha! kidding! This next year I feel like I have to focus on the career that I want and make things happen. It’s been fun to live a little but time is slipping away. With all the national tragedies that occurred, they woke me up and made me realize that I’ve got to make moves and chase my dreams.
I hope in the next year I can evolve into the person that i’ve always imagined. It’ll be a tough road but nothing worth having comes easy. I am excited to go into the new journey in this new year. I hope you stay with me on this little trip.

We’re all pursuing the same thing.
We’re on the pursuit of happiness.
See you sometime on this long road.
