OOTD: Birthday Edition

30 03 2013

I just wrapped up celebrating my 26th birthday this entire month. Yup…the entire month and not just the one single day where my mom gave birth to me. You should try celebrating the entire month since it’ll make you feel better.

Enough about my birthday, I wanted to use it as the basis for the theme of upcoming posts. We all plan to look ultra cool and fashionable on our birthday outings. Don’t sit there and act like you haven’t done that because you have.

This year, I really wanted to have a grown up yet a little risky look but still “Alex” recognizable. As a bigger guy, its hard to find clothes that give a slim and fit look so it was a challenge.IMG_20130316_204026

Sketchers at Target has affordable pieces in their line especially for guys. They’ve got your basics and much more. I am a fan of the monochromatic colors such as white, black, and grey. I saw a navy blue short sleeve button up which I felt really popped even though it was a dark color.

Automatically, dark jeans were out of the running. Light jeans would be the go to piece but its been there, done that. I’ve seen the colored jeans which can be cool or disastrous depending on what you pair them up with. I hopped on over to JCPenney and found a pair of white jeans. Yes! White jeans which means you’re literally looking for trouble.

Ultimately, the white pants complimented the blue in the most perfect way. Originally, my plan was to wear combat boots from Urban Outfitters but alas, they’ve been discontinued. It was between black chucks or black slip on shoes. I went with the black slip ons to keep it more sophisticated.

Most importantly, no stains were on the white pants at the end of the night.

Show me your outfit of the day, week, month, or year. I’d love to see what everyone is wearing. Check out my Pinterest since I’ll be using photos as inspiration for outfits

Goal achieved…

Obviously it’s been awhile since I’ve written so it feels like I am catching you up on everything…

One of my goals for this year was to do two 5k runs. Let me start by saying this…I am not a runner. I am bad at running but I like it. It’s something about crossing the finish line and feeling like hell yes! I finished it plus it gets the endorphins running all in your body.

At the end of February, I did the Rodeo Run in downtown Houston. It was one I’ve previously done but the route change threw me off. The 2nd run I did was the Color Me Rad run which turned out to be freaking badass.  Thankfully, I was able to meet up with some of my old friends, April and Oscar, who are always beasting it at the gym.  They motivate me to get moving so thank you guys for getting this lazy guy to get physical.

IMG_20130330_135401I am happy to say I finished both without being the last one to cross the line. I do want to get better so I am looking to do more runs in the near future.

Have you achieved any goals for this year? I wanna hear about it. Tweet me!
